The #1 bra fitting problem for most women is wearing a band size that is too large and a cup size that is too small!

Figuring out the right bra size is fairly simple, but no measuring method is foolproof. Measurements should be used as a guideline and starting point to discovering your best size.
Using a flexible tape measure and wearing your most comfortable and best fitting bra, you determine your bra size by 2 measurements:
(1) Band Size (measurement of the rib cage)
(2) Cup Size (actual size of the breast)
Band Size: To find the proper band size, remove your blouse leaving your bra on. Measure firmly around the rib cage, just underneath the breasts. Be sure the tape measure is horizontal around your body and not drooping in the back. If the measurement is an even number, add four inches; if the measurement is an odd number, add five inches.
Example: If your rib cage measurement is 32 inches, you would add 4 inches, giving you 36 inches (32+4=36). Your band size is 36 inches.
Example: If your rib cage measurement is 29 inches, you would add 5 inches, giving you 34 inches (29+5=34). Your band size is 34 inches.
Cup Size: With your bra on, measure very gently over the fullest part of the breasts. Hold the tape measure straight around your body without pulling tightly. The difference between this measurement and the band size you have already determined will give you the cup size.
If the difference between the under bust measurement and the fullest part of the bust measurement is:
1"...the cup size is A; 2"...the cup size is B; 3"...the cup size is C; 4"...the cup size is D; 5"...the cup size is DD; 6"...the cup size is E; 7"...the cup size is F; 8"...the cup size is FF; 9"...the cup size is G; 10"...the cup size is GG; 11"...the cup size is H; 12"...the cup size is HH; 13"...the cup size is J; 14"...the cup size is JJ;
Example: You have measured your band size to be 34 inches (you measured your rib cage to be 29 inches and since 29 is an odd number, you added 5...29+5=34). You then measured the fullest part of the bust and got a measurement of 36 inches. Since the difference between the band size and bust measurement is 2 inches (36-34=2), and 2 inches=B cup, you are a B Cup.
Be aware of these three common fitting problems:
Breasts Popping Out of Cups: If there is any flesh poking out of the bra, the cup is too small. Try a bigger cup size. If the cup puckers, the cup is too big so go down a cup size.
Band Riding Up in the Back: Does the band fit snugly around the body? Is it straight around the back? If the band rides up in the back, the band is too big so go down a band size. If the band digs into the skin, the band size is too small so go up a band size.
Center of Bra Not Lying Flat Against Breastbone: If there is a space between the center front piece of the bra (the material that connects the cups) and the breastbone, it means the cups are too small so go up a cup size.
If the bra is uncomfortable in any way, you are wearing either the wrong size or the wrong style (full cup vs. balcony vs. contoured). The right style is as important as the right size. For example, in the two versions of the Le Mystere T-Shirt Bra (Oprah's favorite bra), the 34D in the style 9955 has more coverage through the cups and under the arms than the 34D in the style 955.
Also, please remember that every woman should be refitted and measured at least once a year.
